Bruce A Tracy

Welcome to my blog of ramblings and musings, with a sprinkling of learning (tutorials) and everything digital photography related. The title for my blog is a play on the words “in the zone” as in Ansel Adams zone system, and is a lame effort to motivate me to get out and shoot! I hope that as you follow along, you might also find some motivation to get out and shoot. Just don’t do it with a gun. That could get messy.

I like to shoot people (not with a gun – too messy – with my camera – it’s a cleaner method) and a lot of other things, particularly landscapes. I’m a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography in which I studied professional photography. Some of the images in my flickr photo stream are for photo projects/assignments for NYIP. Photography is something I have enjoyed for many years, but have only recently gotten very serious about it. I think it had something to do with the darkroom. No, I am not afraid of the dark, just don’t like working with chemicals in closed in areas. Now that digital is the “in” thing, I can really get into photography.

This site is all about my thoughts, impressions, things I’ve learned (which I’ll share in the way of tutorials), some of my ideas, and of course my images. There is a link in the menu above that will take you to my portfolio site (galleries) where you can view, rate, and even purchase images as prints, on merchandise, and even as a download (with specific licenses).

I have learned a lot over the last few years, and my photography has definitely improved since I started to get serious about this stuff. I’ve still much to learn and I know that as I learn my photography will just get better (ok, well I hope it will). I hope you will find my postings here useful, insightful, funny, and maybe even educational. Let’s have some fun shall we? Oh, and don’t forget to buy an image or two – it helps pay for the addiction! :)
